This is posted in the Winnebago owners forum, but it is applicable to many different RV's, so I thought I would repeat it here.

When looking for an option to use the VMSpc engine monitoring software, I didn't want to have it display on the same screen as the GPS software we use. We use Microsoft streets and trips, and the wife is the navagator. She is good at it, and therefore uses the laptop often while we travel. I didn't want to swing the display back and forth, and there is just a ton of information on the VMS display.

So with some help from John Canfield and others on the forum, I came up with adding an additional 7" monitor to the laptop. It displays the VMS software in real time, and does not interfere with the GPS software. Here is a picture of what it looks like.

The flash created a little glare on the screen, but the graphics are clear and sharp.

If you are interested, the whole install and other photo's are on the Winnebago owners site. It was significantly cheaper to run the VMSpc software on a seperate screen, than to purchase the self contained VMS system. As a side benefit the 7" screen can be used for a Camera display, or even a video player.
