Are you sure about that? Sincerely, I don't know if that's right. The tires are given an inflation pressure "cold." As they heat up because of road temps and friction, the psi actually goes up a significant amount. This actually helps counter the increased softness of the tires that occurs because of the heat. The speed rating, I believe, is given at a predetermined cold inflation pressure and load rating... and has little to do with the temperature of the tire at operating speed? I could be wrong...

I just looked... my tires are rated at 75mph. Of course, without an engine, they might as well be rated at less than 5mph . lol

Interestingly enough... when you have a blowout, you're actually supposed to floor the throttle instead of hitting the brakes. The logic behind this is that a tire will cause a sideways force to be applied to the rv, pushing you towards either the berm or the centerline... by adding additional force in a forward direction, you can overcome some of that force until you can gain complete control... then you gradually slow down. Nailing the brakes when you have a blowout is a horrible idea...

I am with you on that. There is a however unfortunately.

Generally regulations are implemented because some fool(s) go out and do something stupid. When the carnage is high enough eventually the press and the storm of public opinion will cause the politicians to develop a regulation to eliminate the stupidity. There is nothing common about common sense so therefore the regulations.

An example is the continuing debate about GVWR and GCWR. In spite of the standards and easy math there are numerous folks who continually assert that they have successfully exceeded the manufacturers standards with such subjective data as "it handles great", "can't tell that its there". When enough data is collected from accidents there may be requirement for all vehicles towing a trailer to enter any regulatory scale that is open.
