A&E weather pro awning

I have an A&E weather pro power awning and it was damaged, now it will not move in either direction, the motor runs but something must be striped as it will not move. Is anyone familiar with this unit? Any help, thanks.

How are your batteries? The won't run very well or at all if you have low batteries.

When you say it was damaged, what happened to it? It is possible the gearing is bad. Do you hear the motor when you try to move the awning?

Yes I think it is gearing, the motor runs but no movement. My dumb ass is the problem, long story short it got about 1,000 gallons of rain trapped on it. I tried to move it but of course it would not move. Again my dumb ass. Have I guy coming out Monday and I am concerned that he will just want to replace the motor ($$$) can the gears be gotten and replaced without replacing the motor?

At the end with the motor, there is a key slot on the awning tube. The cast iron tube has an extruded piece of medal that fits into a key slot on the tube itself. That gets worn down. The motor turns the casing buy not the tube. Take it apart and bang in a thin piece of metal where the extruded part has worn down. Your goal is simply to tighten it up. I found a thin torsion spring works great. Got it at ACE Hardware in the screen door section.Click image for larger version
