The front end motor is either weak and needs assistance to retract. This is a very long awning for a Itasca Sunrise 35A front porch. Anyone have similiar problems, ideas on fix. thanks Jim Weiner

We had a similar problem with our awning. Called A&E and they were NOT helpful AT ALL. All they would do is tell me to take it to an authorized repair center. The extent of the assistance they would provide was to ask me where I was so they could help me find a repair facility.

It seems A&E does not want individuals to attempt to repair the awning for "safety reasons." There is a spring under tension inside the roller tube and they don't want anyone messing with it. A&E will only help if your problem has something to do with the electronic controls or sensor, not with the mechanical components.

I called A & E recently and they were worthless !!
My year model awning has a knowN problem with the sensor, I was looking for some tech support just to get a couple of questions answered, nothing !!
I think there shooting themselves in the foot, if I can avoid it, I'll do my best to not purchase there products.

Almost 4-1/2 years ago, our A&E Weather Pro was stopping every few inches when it was extending or when closing it up. The tech at the dealership hit the forward end of the tube, where the motor is, with a rubber mallet, while I was activating the power switch. After several cycles, while he kept tapping on the tube, it started to run smooth. It has worked ever since then. I was told that the magnets, common to the motor, will stick and cause drag.
The dealership called Dometic to have it replaced under warranty. Dometic said that now that we have freed it we shouldn't have any more problems. I was a bit skeptical, but they were right.
