A good general purpose sealant...
I realize that there are many types of sealant for different RVs and different places on a given RV. I'm looking for a good general purpose sealant for on-the-road repairs and small general maintenance chores.
A few weeks ago up in the Fla panhandle we got caught by some outer bands from Hurricane Alex and developed a small leak near the passenger window (sideways rain, torrential). After inspecting it I noticed a gap around the window frame sealant in just the place I would have suspected given the location of the leak. Would have been nice to do an on-the-spot repair.
What works well for this type of use?

Clear silicone for around tubs/sinks should work ok, at least for a temporary fix. Comes out milky white but dries clear. Available in a tube like a large tube of toothpaste.

Thanks Charlie. Exterior use, too?

Dicor lap sealant is used by the manufacturers on the roof, silicone on the sides.

I have an assortment of Goop in the coach. My first use was last winter in Florida when we found out that the front cap was not sealed very well.
Goop RV to the rescue. Available at your local Wally World and probably allot of other places too!
Works great, dries fast.

The Dicor holds up better on the roof and the clear silicone on the sides is less noticeable on the side walls if you have paint.

I like the Geocel products and Geocel Proflex RV in particular. It is available in Clear, white, black or almond and works well on roofs and sides, including windows. And its not a silicone, which means you can recoat the seam with something else without having to remove the residual silicone first. Not for use on EPDM rubber, however.
