If you keep your foot on the brake pedal in neutral it won't beep. The minute you remove your foot from the brake pedal, it goes off. It's that way on my 2007 Spartan and it was the same on my 2004 Freightliner. Can't speak for anything earlier though.

Your post points out that something like this can happen to all of us. It's very easy to be distracted by something or be in a hurry and forget a step. I'm pretty absent minded so I developed a set of checklists based on what I learned when I used to fly small airplanes. It's a little bit of a pain to use but it sure has saved me several times.

Good to hear all were ok.

I do the same thing re: the checklist. The short version is:

1. Jacks up and blocks stored
2. Outer compartments locked
3. TV/Sat antennas stored
4. Windows/vents closed/opened as required
5. Shower door latched
6. Closet doors/drawers closed and latched
7. Pantry latched
8. Coffee Pot strapped down (overhead)
9. Everything else put away including shore power cords and sewer lines/connections/caps
10. Awnings stored
11. Air bags fully inflated
12. Front coach entry door locked and step cover extended over footwell

The last one doesn't happen until everything else has been checked. Once this last one is done, everyone is told to take a seat and we are off.

BTW, as soon as the jacks are up and verified, the coach is started so it will warm up. The rest just takes a few minutes to complete. I didn't add anything about a toad since I am working on my towing system but that will go on the list too, as well as any bicycles etc.
