AAA

How does AAA and Good Sam compare with their road service. I have had AAA and was good but Good Sam is cheaper.

We have both AAA and Good Sam but so far (knock on wood) we haven't had to use either one.

We also have the AAA Visa credit card and the discounts pay for the annual membership.

Most people say that Coachnet ERS is the best for for RV's though.

Good Luck,

Had Good Sam and they left me on side of i-78 in PA for 3 hours on a Saturday night while they tried to negotiate a lower price with the tow truck company.

I also called Good Sam once while broken down on the Mass. Turnpike. They kept me on hold for about 30 minutes, took down my location and info, and then called me back 30 minutes later to say they couldn't help me because the Mass. Turnpike had contracted tow companies. It would have been great to know that right off the bat.

Switched to AAA and they were great when I broke down in Casper, WY last summer.

So what do you do in a case like this? Did you pay out of pocket and then get GS to reimburse? Bob

On the turnpike, you have to pay the tow company ($500 as it was a long tow to Springfield) then submit to Good Sam. 6 weeks later I did get a check.

Ahh, that's good news. At least you were not left twisting in the financial wind. Still...what a pain. Bob

AAA is not for profit and member owned company and service is top notch at least in AZ. I never had a tow brake down, but they have come out to the middle of no where to change tires on 5th wheels and tow my Jeep home when I blow the rear end out. Service was fast and friendly. Can't say that about the other road side service companies that are for profit.

We were traveling in Colorado a few years back a misplaced the toad keys, we called AAA, our car insurer, unfortunately they didn't have a clue as to locating a locksmith. Coach Net got one out right away.

We love AAA for the few calls in SoCal, but doesn't appear the interstate coordination is very good.

Personally, I like AAA. I think they have treated me more than fairly on a couple of insurance claims over the years. I have the long distance towing and have only had to use it for a car, but I would expect as good a service on my MH should the situation arise. I have all of my insurance through AAA; four cars, two motorcycles, boat and trailer, MH and my home. I always get a kick when I look at my AAA card and its say member since 1949.....my folks got AAA when we moved to California from NY back then.

My experience with AAA was terrible and I cancelled before year was up after trying 4 times to speak with someone about my issue. My dad loved them until his last trip. After 8 yrs he has now switched to Coachnet. I have no info on Good Sams as I have used them.

AAA does not support RV's in all areas is the thing. In Northern California, I beleieve it's "best effort" but they won't guarantee to send you something that can tow a big motorhome, for example.

I've currently got Good Sam for the RV stuff -- tried CoachNet, was disappointed with their response a couple of times, now I go with "who is the cheapest because they can all suck" model.

Coach net is the best. I have only had it for a month had to use the towing 2 times. They were very nice and very fast.
