AC shroud problem

Wondering if anyone has a suggestion to fix a problem I am having with one of my coleman AC units. I have replaced both of my AC shrouds. They are held on with 4 screws. My problem is one of the screws will not come loose. It just spins. You can see the part that looks to be press fitted to the top of the unit where the screw goes just spin when trying to remove the screw. 😡

Try putting a screwdriver under the head and provide up force while turning the screw. The added friction of the insert to the cover may help the screw back out.

Just thinking, what if you remove the other AC shroud, use it to take measurements where to drill a hole on the other cover to allow you to insert a screwdriver or something underneath and put pressure on the "nut" while you turn the bolt.

I can get the shroud off. Currently for that screw I have a wire wrapped around the screw and tied off to a large washer to help holder down the shroud. Old shroud was so brittle I just ripped it off.

Hold the press fitted part with vice grips just enough to hold it and work the screw in and out until it works freely.

Drill another hole in the same area and use a sheetmetal screw. A Dremel with a cut-off wheel should remove the old fastener.

That might work, just not sure what's on the other side of the sheet metal. Don't want to ruin the AC unit.
