Adding surge brakes to a tow dolly

I bought a kar kaddy tow dolly without brakes.can I add surge brakes to it?

Good morning flasher. I've been thinking about adding brakes to my boat trailer so I can pull my Bass boat with my Jeep. Check ETrailer. They have a complete disc brake setup for about $400. Not bad for disc brakes and the actuator too. Look for the Titan kit. Good luck and let us know what you find.

Much easier and cheaper to do electric about 220 if you do it that is dexter brand surge will be welding cutting ect

Looking to do surge brakes so anyone can use it without having a brake controler

Ok different story it can be done I have done this for a friend he bought the parts so I don't know the cost it took a day cutting welding running lines and installing brakes

They have ball mount systems, also. I have their towbar and it's easy to hook up.

I sold the dolly.i guess i will use the trailer

The big issue will be the axle in your dolly, as Whem mentioned, if yours isn't equipped with axle hubs that have the mounting hardware (usually a square plate with a hole in each corner) then it's a big job to add that onto your axle.

If it does have the hubs equipped to take a brake system, it's a pretty straightforward job.
