I just completed, a longer than expected, task of replacing my muffler on my 05 Dynasty with the ISL 400 Cummins engine. It took a while to engineer all the bits and pieces I would need to properly position and support the muffler. Then there was getting the tip and exit angle out from under the coach.

Well, I completed the project and I have to say, it came out very well. I fired up the engine and the throatyness of the new sound is very nice, not too loud.

I installed the 5050XL Aero Turbine muffler with the resonator. I have yet to try it out on the road, so do not know if any of the manufacturer’s claims have any validity. This is not why I picked this unit. I was most interested in less back pressure and possible reduced exhaust temperatures. Anything beyond that, would just be great. My old muffler was getting very thin in the walls from rust, so it was time to get something a bit more resistant with the stainless steel one.

Please keep us posted. I for one would like to know how this muffler works for you. Also were you able to have the 12" upstream and downstream straight pipe when you installed it?

I did not have enough room to get the 12 inch in and out. I have a 90 degree coming in with about 9 inches before/into the muffler.

I have a 45 degree going out directly from the muffler.

Unfortunately, it will be several weeks before I take it out for a real run and then more weeks after that before we will be traveling some distance.

I will post anything I can quantify.

We replaced the stock muffler and air cleaner with the Aero muffler and AFE air cleaner. On our 350 Cummins we picked up 25 hp and 75 ft/lb's of torque at 1200-1400 rpm. The original muffler was the size of a small trash can and was shot. The new set-up is a little louder but not obnoxious. All in all pleased.
