Air Compressor suggestions??? Need Advice.

I am an avid Landcruiser fan... I actually tow one behind my coach. In all the 4wd forums they buy these slow pumping compressors. I'm curious what you use if your coach didn't come with a compressor. I need something that will go up to 95psi as thats the max on my coach and where I want to keep the pressure.

I've used this one for almost 4 years and love it. Shop PORTER-CABLE 0.8 HP 6-Gallon 150 PSI Electric Air Compressor at Lowes.com

Or get the same one rebuilt by Porter Cable from their web site.

Some of your fellow 4wd forums prefer 12volt compressor's.

Could that be an issue?

This is what I replaced my 3 gallon pancake compressor with. I found the pancake took up more room where it lives and the weight was getting tiresome. The Sears 1.5 will go to 150psi as advertised and will top off our 22.5s in about 15 seconds (maybe a 5-10psi increase) and comes in right at 1/2 the weight of the pancake. I like it. Bob

Note: I plug it in at the external radio station panel and got rid of the 'weenie' air hose that came with the 1.5. I can now air all tires (as well as the toad's)from that location.

ViAir is what I went with. 200PSI, quick recovery and will air my 22.5's to the 100PSI with no problem. Runs the train horns super loud also and it is 12 volt.

There was a thread on this subject this last spring. Search for sears craftsman air compressors . Most posts agreed that sears craftsman was the preferred air compressor

VIAIR Corporation - 12-volt & 24-volt - 200 PSi Air Suspension Compressors Look here.

I use VIAIR also---I have a constant duty compressor and 2-1/2 gallon tank and a fifty foot hose. The compressor came as a kit which I installed. A loud obnoxious air horn I threw in just for fun (on a gas rig). It handles 22.5 tires easily and is rated 150psi. I use constant duty because it does not require intermittent recovery time for heat bulid up. It is a 12v system and you can just get the VIAIR compressor and use it w/o a tank if you prefer.

I forgot to mention it is quite a bit more expensive than the other suggestions on the thread----however it is a quality set up (not that the others are not) and made for 4 wheeling.

I have a collection of huffer puffers.. (There is actually one compressor by that brand name but I don't have one, it's ... kind of large)

I have some 12 volt pizza specials (you hook it up, plug it in, call for pizza and finish your dinner before the tire is aired up)

I have a Black & Decker air station (Good for car tires, not so much on the MH)

I have a sears 2 gallon pancake job I got six years ago that hits 160 PSI before it shuts the compressor off.. Now that one... Does motor home tires. it also pumps up my camp-fire extinguisher (1.5 gallon lawn sprayer much modified, not entierly by choice) and a bunch of other things, it blows out water lines (regulators are ueed) and airs up bicycle tires, (likewise on the regulator) and ... Whatever needs compressed air.

heck, with a bit of help from my 12 ton air/hydraulc jack it can even pick up a motor home.
