ok last night while sleeping all of a sudden i feel the air conditioning vents pushing heat ? just turned it off any one know what might have caused this they are dometic units with a heat pump an no the heat pump wasnt on first thing i checked !

any help would be greatly appreciated ! dave

Sounds like the compressor shut down did it ice up or did you have the fan on not on auto. Did you turn it back on in the after noon what happened?

mine did same thing. it was some type selenoid. RV shop fixed it and wasn't very expensive. good luck

Sounds like a problem with the control circuit or a bad solenoid coil.

well its working again just doesnt seem to get as cold as the front unit ? should one clean the coils on these ? do you happen to know what solenoid it was ? thanks

A heat pump has a 4 port, solenoid valve that reverses the coils for heating. This valve can sometimes stick. Get up on top and when the unit has been shut down, set it for heat pump and start the unit and let it run. Tap on the solenoid body with a plastic or rubber mallet. Once you have verified that the unit is heating, shut it down fro 5 minutes. Swich the controls back to cooling and have someone start it and you rap on the solenoid body. The unit should switch to cooling.

If it does not switch, check the solenoid coil to be sure it is working. Be very careful when you are up top with the cover off and the unit is operating. Stay away from the fan and any electrical.
