Arizona - My experience with a diesel in an R/V was in a marine R/V (otherwise called a sailboat). Not considering the electrical system that a gasser needs to run a diesel is more critical than a gasser. But a diesel runs without electricity, no coil or points or (electrical) distributor. The latter two requiring service. Give a diesel clean oil and clean fuel (requiring proper filters) and she'll run forever (or at least 3 or 4 times as long as a gasser). I found that the maintenance of my diesel in the boat was significantly easier and cheaper than the maintenance of the gas engines in any of the cars I've had in the last 63 years.
