All Froze Up

I'm a new full-timer - long time RV camper - currently hold up in the Northlake Village RV Park in North Texas. The outside temperature has been below 27% for going on 3 days now. Just finished washing the dishes, but when I went to fill up the coffee pot for tomorrow mornings coffee, I had a rush of water then a dribble with the pump continuing to pump for about 10 more seconds after I shut the faucet off. Did this several times with the same result. The heater is running in the water pump bay. I have been totally disconnected from city water since before the temperature dropped below freezing. I had to go next door and borrow a gallon of water from the brand new RV newbies who where just a couple of days ago asking my advice. They took it and have plenty of water. I didn't and now have no water. So. What do you think? Since the pump runs but only produces water momentarily could it be that my fresh water tank is frozen? It shows 2/3rds full. I'm in a 2008 Monaco Cayman 35SBD.

Did you try the toilet and Bath sink? I bet your gauage is off and your empty. Boy I hope it didn't freeze.
Keep us posted.

Is your water bay fully closed up? When you disconnected your city water line did you remove the hose and then close the access door you put the hose through. When its real cold you have to give that little water bay heater all the help you can.

We're running approximately the same temps here in Victoria, BC as you are "enjoying" in Texas. My water liner froze up a couple of days ago and we're living off our on board tank as well. No problems so far.

It sounds like you may be low on water, your pump is obviously pumping water away faster than it is receiving more. It could also be a pump that's dying; I don't think they last too long. Mine is working OK, but making new noises.

Our forecast is for warmer weather about Monday. I have thawed out my lines and taps. It's the RV park line that is frozen. No use worrying about that until it warms up a bit. We've broken records here these past few days.

Stay warm...

I was out in Western OK Friday & Saturday (9 degrees oat). My onboard tank was about 3/4 full. My water line had to have been frozen somewhere between the pump & the first tee. I had water to the outside shower faucet in the the wet bay where one of my heaters was. I have ceramic heaters on in the basement(s). I can see my fresh water tank in the mid bay, there's also a 110v recep in that bay that I keep the heater plugged into. I had to fill jugs/pitchers with water at the outside shower for use inside.
I'm sure it was frozen, because when I got home and backed into the hangar, in about 30 minutes, all was working fine.

I never unhook my water hose in cold weather.

I leave the bathroom sink faucet drip. Moving water is difficult to freeze.

My sewer hose will not freeze because I have it laying on the ground. The ground is much warmer than the air temperature.

I have eight cheap trouble lights from Wal Mart. When it's really cold, I put 60w bulbs in them and scatter them all around...under sinks, buy the water pump, outside in back of the refer, outside walls with water lines, etc.

Are you sure you have water in your tank? The level sensor's might just be wrong. Look at the tank with a flashlight and see where the water level is. When you say heat is on in the water bay do you mean that you are running your furnace and when it runs it also heats the basement?

I am betting on your tank contents being a block of ice which is slowly melting from the bit of heat at the outlet-end of the tank. When you open a faucet the pump removes the little bit of water and the pump sucks air when the water is gone. This will give enough water to mix with Scotch but not enough to take a shower!

Save the water for coffee and drink the scotch on the rocks.
