Alternate use for Winterizing bypass valve
I permanently install my water softener in the storage bay next to the wetbay.
I did not want to fuss with the water connections in the storage area during recharge to keep the carpets dry.
By installing this bypass valve (normally used pull in antifreeze into the water system) I can divert the output of the water softener from the coach to a external drain hose.
The photo shows the bypass valve on the output side of the softener where it goes into the coach.
I currently disconnect the other line from the hose reel, and pour in two gallons of brine to recharge the softener. Using a right angle threaded fitting and a piece of PEX, I can use a funnel to pour in the brine.
This idea might be useful to someone needing to simply their recharge process…..then again, it might not.
Regards,
Dan
