My vote goes to Museum Putty. We use it for things we use all the time, (paper towel holder, soap dispensers, elect. Toothbrush, razor, things like that. Holds great, and won't damage surfaces, and removes cleanly.

Nothing sitting out while traveling. The last thing I need, is to worry about something from behind taking me or DW out if we make a sudden stop, as in crash. A block full of knives_really.

It must take some of you a long time securing your cabinet doors and drawers with eye bolts and steel rods... The last thing I'd be worrying about in a crash would be if my toothbrush (in another room) is going to come through the wall. I really don't think those 25 cent latches companies install are going to help much either. Just saying....

We've never had a problem with things sliding off the kitchen counters. We have a small toaster-oven and a container holding knives and other hardware, and those never move!

I'm from this school of thought as well. I've been a gigging musician (keyboard player) for years. Fifteen years ago - I had to make a "quick" stop one night on the way home from a gig in the rear seats removed Ford Windstar mini-van I was driving at the time. I can still remember the fear I felt hearing my wife scream as the pile of gear behind use gently "surged" against the driver and passenger chairs. I realized right then and there that even though I'd likely survive the crash itself ... the piano that would be ramming me in the butt would almost certainly kill me.

Three weeks after that incident - I replaced the Windstar with a Ford E150 cargo van - complete with a steel bulkhead that separates the "cockpit" from the cargo area. Thankfully, I haven't had to put it to the ultimate test yet - however, I've slept a lot better knowing that what's behind me is way less likely to kill me if I ever do!

Walmarts sells the same stuff for half the price, it's in the shelf paper area.

We don't leave anything on the counter when traveling. I don't want any flying projectiles coming from behind if I have to make a sudden stop. The only exception is the coffee maker if we make coffee before pulling out in the morning, and it sits on the rubber mat stuff.

Yep i am sure the wood block with knives, toaster ovens, and kettles never move when you slow down on the highway....

But what if you stop from a semi crossing the median in a fraction of a second... the crumble zone, heavy chassis, air bags, seat belts will not protect you from the wood block of knives hitting the back of your head at 75mph...

I am anything from a type A personality... unfortunately I do understand physics...

We leave noting on the table or counters or anywhere it can fly forward or bounce to the floor on a rough road. Like a few others already mentioned, we prefer the counters be clear of almost everything anyway. Clutter is annoying even when we're parked for the week or month or winter. I've been in a few RVs that looked like Hoarder's homes and wondered, but never asked, what they did with all the "stuff" when they moved.

For the few lightweight knickknacks I have I use Museum Putty ordered through Amazon.

I would not be willing to have burning hot coffee (think McDonalds) sitting on a shelf behind me when I am driving. Get a Thermos instead.

So far, in our Allegro Open Road, I just use non-skid mats for coffee pot and toaster. I use Museum Putty for decorative items only. It has worked from NY to FL and back with no problems. We have been full-timing since November 2014. Good luck.

As full-timers for 16 years we never left anything on the counters. When parked, the only appliance we left out was the coffee pot. When moving, it was put away. When the toaster was used it immediately put away. We like the uncluttered look - easier to keep clean - so on moving day it was a simple task to pack up and go.

We did use the putty on walls for pictures but after a while, it, too, began to slip around, especially when boondocking in warmer temps. We did keep a small lamp on the desk and secured it with putty. It stayed put. In fact, when we sold the motorhome we intended to remove it but it wouldn't budge!
