When I bought my used motorhome, it had a Prodigy brake controller in it. When I picked it up, it did not.

The sales department said it was their policy that they would not sell a unit with a used brake controller for 'liability reasons'. When asked why they didn't remove it before showing it, they said they couldn't afford to do that until the delivery prep.

The service department consulted their computer and said that the previous owner had called and asked it be removed and sent to him, so they did. This was 'normal procedure' and 'happens all the time'.

Anyone else run into this sort of thing?

Fortunately, my policy is if you steal from me, you will regret it, and after working my way up to the head guy, got an agreement for them to pay me for it.

Doesn't sound right to me. The liability thing is an excuse. They're selling a complete used motorhome, I doubt if they took the used brake pads out of it for "liability reasons". Apparently, they were supposed to send it to the previous owner and forgot or else they found a new home for it on another customer's coach. If you looked at a coach and accepted it "as is" then it should remain that way unless they stated any exclusions ahead of time. They either owe you a new brake controller or the money to buy your own.

I expect to buy what I looked at and agreed to. If they remove things then it is not what I agreed to and I would cry foul
