Might want to google Montana LLC. Alot of people here in CA have Montana Lic plates. Mine is $1614, a total rip off.

I have a Montana LLC that owns my MH and saves me big bucks every year. It is one of the few legal ways of tax management for your MH without violating most state laws. In my state (Va) my LLC does not have to pay taxes (sales or personal property tax) here so long as my motor home is not located in the state for a period of more than 6 months. The law says vehicles located in the state for a period of more than six months are to be registered in this state and thus subject to a license registration fee, sales tax when purchased and yearly personal property tax. The law does not state whether that is a consequtive or aggregate period of 6 months. Doing it this way does not change your personal state of residence. Your LLC is a separate legal entity and it resides in Montana and owns the MH.

I see Montana plates on MHs everywhere on my travels. Not one I every spoke with lived in Montana -- they all had LLCs.

I got mine thru the Bennett law firm. They have a web site. RV Registration
