ATB Senior Pass Pays For Itself

Recently ordered the "America The Beautiful" Senior Pass, available to those of us who are 62 and older. There is not a location nearby to purchase the pass for $10, so I ordered it from Denver for $20.

We just spent two days in Holiday Park (COE campground) on Lake Benbrook, Texas. Regular price for electric/water hookup sites is $28 per night; with the Senior Pass the price is $14. I already saved the cost of the pass! If you are eligible, I highly recommend getting the pass. Discount may vary at other facilities.

Formerly known as the "Golden Age Pass", it also waives the basic entry fees at National Parks, National Wildlife Refuges etc. It is without a doubt the best bargain around. As the OP said, it is only $10 if you apply in person at a Visitor Center or Entrance Station.

And even better, active duty military and disabled persons qualify for a FREE America The Beautiful pass.

I plan on getting mine as soon as I turn 62 - which is next month. Louisiana state parks accepts it also.

Some Military CG give a discount with it. The best $10 I ever spent.

This same pass for those of us on SSD is called an Access Pass and is free if you stop by or $10 if ordered online. This is a great opportunity for those not yet quite old enough (I'm 61) but still looking to get in on this great deal.

That old folks pass is great! We took a two month trip out west last year and it was really nice to drive up to the gate of a national park, show them my pass, and drive on in while the car behind me had to pay $25.00! There's gotta be some advantage to getting old!!!!!

Be aware that CG's operated by national park concessionaire contractors do not have to accept the pass. At Colter Bay in Grand Teton NP we got ~$10 off of a ~$50/night site. At Trailer Village in Grand Canyon NP we got no discount, but the price was only $38/night. Surprisingly, at Stovepipe Wells in Death Valley NP we got 50% off of a ~$32 site.

I never looked at it as a CG discount. Good to know. I was happy with the free park entrance.

The pass may also be obtained at a National forest office/HQ.

Thom and I stopped off at a national park in Colorado just last week. I showed my letter from the VA about my disability rating and stuff and my ID and got the card for free. The guy at the gate then asked for Thom's ID and gave him the card for free too ...... We tried to tell the guy that Thom was not disabled but since Thom is a vet too and married to me he gave it to him for free too.
