Autoformer on Boost
I have a Huge Autoformer for several years now. Noticed today it was on boost, red light on. Checked incoming voltage with 2 meters and got 117 VAC. I know the unist is supposed to go on boost under 115. Anyhone know if theres a + - on this? I've disconnected it and replugged it and get the same thing. Unfortunately I don't have a source hight in voltage to try it.

When you tested the incoming voltage was it under load? In other words was the RV's systems running? If not it is possible the voltage will sag enough (under the 115 threshold) that the autoformer starts boost.

No there was no load whatsoever.

I would test it under load to see if the voltage sags close to the Hughes stated threshold of 115 VAC. I would also check both the incoming and post autoformer voltage from an RV (under load) outlet. If indeed you read 117 in and a nominal voltage out (117-122) then I would not be concerned. If however you exceed the the higher side it may warrant service to the Hughes.

I just dread the shipping costs! LOL. I wish I could provide about 120 VAC incoming to see what happens.

What is the spec for when the Autoformer stops boosting? Sometimes there is a difference of when it starts is different than when it stops.

Its supposed to boost whne the VAC drops below 115 Right now its boosting at incoming 117, I'm wondering of theres a + - tolerance

If you start your generator and then plug it into one of the 20 amp sockets using an adapter, then you can check to see if it stays in the boost mode.
The voltage coming out of your generator should be spot on versus what is supplied from the RV park.
I have a Power-Master Voltage Booster so I am not much help with the Autoformer.

You reported in another post that the 117 volts coming into y9our coach was determined when there was no load on the source power. My guess is that under load your incoming voltage drops to 115 or less thereby forcing the Autoformer into boost. It will continue to boost until incoming voltage is over 115.
To answer your question more directly........there is no tolerance as I understand.

That is somethign I plan on building in a couple of years.. A power monitoring system.
This system will have multiple voltmeters and indicators, and perhaps ammeters as well (Depending on if I can add them without voltage loss)
Incoming voltage pre-autoformer incoming voltage (well output of transfer switch) post autoformer, current (out from transfer switch) and possibly in from shore. and a simple NEON indicator for 240 volt. across the legs. Status at a glance.

I'm not running any load. With the autoformer plugged into 117 vac it goes into boost.

Fosilhog, check out this site Hughes Autoformers ::
It says the Autoformer starts boost at 116 volts. maybe your meter and the voltage detecting portion of the Autoformer aren't quite in sync.
