Fist I would say that slideout awnings will ALWAYS pool water unless installed with a slope toward the outside -- I don't see many like that. And they will flap some in the wind depending on wind direction. Some folks put a homemade PVC pipe frame or beach ball, etc under them to keep them from flapping & sagging. Mine collect water, but I don't see that as a problem. When I pull the slides in, the water rolls off the outside.
Mine are Carefree Colorado. The rollers are spring-loaded on the left end (standing on the ground facing the slideout room). Making the awnings tighter would require pinning the spring, taking that end of the roller loose, and then winding that spring a revolution or two tighter -- much easier said than done!!!
