I have an A&E 8500 awning installed on my MH. This spring I have noticed that when rolling it up I must have some one apply pressure towards the rear in order for the arms to seat properly in the upper bracket. I also have wrinkling of the vinyl on the roller at the front end. Has the vinyl shifted causing the seating problem? Can the vinyl be moved to correct this problem.

remove the retaining screws that are in the awning rail mounted to the side of the motorhomeand try pulling the fabric at the wall of the coach area with the awning extended out toward the direction you need the arms to go. Extend and retract the awning many times untill it is aligned and then reinstall the screws into the bead cord and awning rail.

I have had a similar problem but with a Carefree Awning. The problem is a result of the awning material shifting and no longer being square the side of the motorhome. Rather than adjusting the awning material which is attached to the side of the motorhome I simply grab the edge of the awning material and slide the roller tube to a position that I've marked on the roller tube. I found the position by trial and error. Now that I know where to position the roller tube relative to the awning material I ccan get the arms to lock 100% of the time. While this all sounds drastic I really only need to slide the tube less than a quarter of an inch one direction or the other.
As far as the wrinkle is concerned, I've got that problem too. In my case what has happened is that the polyethylene rod that locks the awning material to the roller tube has slid out of position and no longer reaches to the end where the wrinkle occurs. Again, in my case the rod has backed off about an inch from the end - not what I'd call serious so I just ignore it. I'm also going to guess that the problem with arms not aligning is tied to movement of this rod.
