Awning Stitch Sealing

Hello all,

I have an older awning on my RV and the last few trips I have noticed water leaking underneath from the stitching. Is there a way to seal that so it doesn't leak?

Thanks,
Steve

Thats common over time they will leak, in fact my awning in 2 years old and rv is garaged out of the weather and found it leaked on seam the last trip. Go to camping supply or maybe walmart and find tent stop leak waterproffing and spray a light bead on seam area let set a few min and wipe excess off. I have found this to work fine for awhile and just re-apply when it leaks again as it will dry out of seam. I would say at start of season hit it again a good type product holds up well.

Another option is the new hydrophobic spray Never Wet. It is a two part spray that not only seals the fabric but it forces the water off of it. I used it to water proof an older tent for my daughter's family and it works really well. I plan on using it on my awning next spring.

I used paraffin wax on one of my awnings. It was recommended by Winnebago at the time. Worked well.

Cliff, what form was the wax in when you applied it?

Richard, I don't know about that one.. I tried that on a root gutter on my house and the water ran thru it like it wasn't there

It's readily available ... typically used for canning or candlemaking. Walmart, most grocery stores, crafting stores, etc.
