What would make a back up camera be working fine one minute then picture is gone the next? This has been a recurring problem with my camera since I bought the rig. Sometimes it stays on for hours, then will suddenly go gray. Other times it will do it within a few minutes of traveling. I have checked all the cables and all connections are tight. No sign of any tears or wear in the wiring. All mounts are tight so it should not be from vibration. It seems to be worse when it is hot out. Any clues?

My camera did the same thing. It was the back camera that went bad. When I told the company they sent me a new one. It has been ok for the past year.

Ok so your saying it is the part that actually does the " viewing" that is going bad?

...or, in my case, the video connector on the back of the monitor became intermittent. If your monitor has two inputs, try switching the camera from one to the other.
NOTE: A video input may only be active if the MH is in reverse.

If you are on the P30 chassis it could be the reverse switch at the base of the steeting column acting up. Mine sometime acts up if the floor mat bunches up under the switch.

I can't give you a direct answer, but if you don't get one here you might try RVCAMS I recently had contact with them for some small parts. They are extremely helpful and very responsive to email. If there is a problem he can probably also supply the parts at reasonable cost. You will find the email address at the bottom of their web page.

Not in my motorhome. I leave the monitor on when driving and watch the toad plus I have my laptop fed into the "C" input and can switch to my mapping software. But the screen resolution on the Sony monitor is not quite up to giving a clear image from the computer.
I have also fed the rear view camera to my 27" Sony TV for a big picture.

Tom,
I have added a 15" LCD monitor under the driver side overhead cabinet. I use it with the laptop for Delorme navigation. Probably wouldn't be too difficult to move the rear camera feed to the laptop. A wireless trackball velcrod to the steering wheel spoke helps makes simple adjustments and switching screens- road conditions permitting.
Got pictures.

i have a 2004 bounder and had trouble with the camera from the first day fleetwood replace the monitor twice and the camera once and i was still haveing the same trouble it would go out and come back on when it wanted to. so i started looking around and found the big black box under the hood that has some fuses in it and i found the big red cable looose on the circut board , be careful not to touch anything to ground it out but use a socket to tighten it and its been ok ever since.

Hi guys and gals, while we are on the subject of back up cameras, mine went out completely the last trip, won't even come on, no power. Did someone say the fuse box for the camera is under the hood? I guess I should start there.
