I have a Sony color back up camera in my motorhome model #VCD-MHD1. I keep losing my picture on the screen and colored lines appear. Sometimes it will come back on and work fine for a few miles and then goes back to the lines on the screen. This happens often. Could this be in the wiring or would it be the unit? It is only 3 yrs old.

I suspect you have a problem in the wiring harness. It could be a loose connection. Recommend you remove camera and access connection, unfasten, clean connections with electronic turner cleaner and reconnect. Do the same on the front connections at the monitor. Test drive and determine results. Lets us know.

WE had an after market camera installed. The lines would come on at will and then go back to a proper picture. It was the wire coming to the back of the monitor. It was pulled to tight . Got some slack in the wire and now every thing is as it should be. MARVH

I see you have a '04 Winnie, same year as mine. I suspect that it's the Sony Color Camera. A lot of us had to replace a bad batch of Sony's. Bought mine at rvcams.com for around $250 two years ago. I see their price for the Sony replacement is $449! Ouch!!! Maybe Tim's got a substitute he can recommend.

Good Luck,

I had it checked out. Turned out it was the camera that was bad.
