Own a 1994 Monaco that came with a Sony backup system. Camera started losing horizontal sync output in 2006 (lived with this a while as display would roll and usually display correctly after power was on for a while).
Feb 2007- Replaced Sony camera with a $150.00 ebay unit. Did not crank or drive M.H. until June 2007 and discovered the camera, at first would only sometimes produce an output, later totally died. I would estimate about 10 minutes, at most, of use before unit became defective.
It sounds like you should check your monitor.

Thanks for telling about your experience with a Rear View Safety rear view camera. I recently had some problems with my Voyager system and picked the Rear View Safety system as a replacement. It would be an upgrade from B/W to color. It turned out that by swapping the camera input plug from input #1 to #2 on the Voyager problem solved, for now.

I have a monochrome system with a fixed rear camera and it's just fine. It has provisions in the monitor for a second camera.

What I need to do is get a camera that I can temporarily attach to the front LH corner of the rig, looking along to the rear so that it shows where the front and rear wheels are, relative to the edge of my driveway. Even after trimming off the roof overhang as far as possible, I only have about 6" clearance on the right side, so getting the left side as close to the edge as I can, is critical.

Dave, do you want to sell that wireless camera that's sitting on your garage shelf? Send me a PM.
