bad sam doesn't pay

What a joke they are, had a flat and was at a rv dealer, dealer called my roadside assistance company and was told it was ok to send a truck to change my tire. Truck came and changed my tire. Tire shop called bad sam and was told I needed to file a claim. $65 and for the hoops they are putting me through it just is not worth it. Cash always works and I'll now take my chances. 5 years I paid these thieves for nothing. My stupidity for buying insurance, they don't get to build those big buildings by being honest.

You can be honest and still build big buildings, it's about the company.

Or the tire shop didn't want to file the claim and wait for the payment.

Well there are rules and requirements to follow. If you don't then they won't pay. Same as anu other roadside assistance company.

I have only ever had one interaction with Good Sam and I would cal it an unmitigated success and made a believer out of me. 10/10!

Last year about this time we were headed to O'Hare for a flight out of the country. Approaching the airport on the interstate, the engine hesitated and then quit cold. Apparently the alternator wasn't alternating and running the engine killed the battery. It was important we get to the airport on time for our overseas flight. Punch line was, it was 3:00am, we were on the shoulder of the interstate, 2 miles from the O'Hare exit, no idea where I was or who to call to rescue us. Only option was a Good Sam membership I had signed up for the month before. One phone call (very pleasant experience) and about an hour later, we were loaded on a flatbed and being driven to our local destination. Driver arranged for a replacement alternator to be installed while we were gone and to store the car for us. Was not charged a nickle for the tow service, only the alternator and the installation and the storage.

Now, I understand some may have different experiences, but this one really made a believer out of me.

My wish for you is that your next experience will be as pleasant as ours was.

It never ceases to amaze me how people attempt to dodge responsibility for their own actions.

You had a problem and Good Sam tells you to file a claim so they can pay it. And by your twisted logic, fling the claim is too much trouble for you, so this is the Good Sam’s fault?

Wow.

Don’t see the problem, I’ve used them twice both times they sent truck and no problems.

I don't think the OP felt the love he thought he would! For us, we've used Good Sam Roadside Assistance once for a flat tire and had overall a good experience. Granted it was on the interstate, near a large city, but from the time the tread departed the tire on our old TT, to being back on the road, heading to a tire shop to get a new tire and put the spare back in it's place was about 1 hour and 15 minutes!

bad sam doesn't pay

I’ll have to agree with the OP. I had GS for five years.

We had One incident that was totally mishandled. And yes, I did call in for assistance while stranded. Called three times and they still sent a tow truck instead of the mechanics truck I told them I needed.

We waited another three hours for the mechanics truck.

At least GS had to pay for BOTH.

That’s why I’m with Coach Net now.

Plus with Camping World now owning GS, I don’t want them getting my money.

I can totally understand why Good Sam would ask you to file a claim. If as you said the RV dealer called the service provider you have to remember THEY ARE NOT THE INSURANCE POLICY HOLDER. It would be foolish of Good Sam to authorize payment to someone who claims to be providing service without any proof they are providing it to a policy holder.

I'm sure the claim form would include things like your name, address, and policy number. When that information is supplied the company can reasonably be assured that you requested the service.

It may be when and where you need GS. I finally cancelled when I was told by the GS operator that I would get better service response if I called 911. I ended up calling for help myself. Prior to that our wait for service was anywhere from 4+ to over 12 hours. We felt that was a little long so went back to AAA. More money but better service. There is also the question of what they will and won't do. Personally, I don't look at the legal "wills" and "won'ts" when I am on the side of the road. I pay for a policy that should be of assistance on the side of the road. It sounds like most of you have had a lot better luck with them than I have.

I have to disagree on this one. We have been using Good Sam since 2000 and had a few claims. We have never been asked to pay and then file a claim.

I this is a new policy for them then we won't be renewing when our contract is out!
