A large barbeue propane cylinder, when
full is heavy and tippy in the storage
cubby-hole. Did you know that it will
fit perfectly in one of those plastic,
square milk cartons?? Probably old news
to some, but I just discovered it. No
more worrying about how to tie it down,
or wedge it in there somehow.

Last winter I carried a 30# aluminum tank from a Holiday Rambler TT we owned back in the 70's. Had gas in the tank and wanted to use it and the tank has the old style valve. I've switched to a regular 20# steel tank from Lowes. I stand it up in a compartment that is just wide enough for the tank. But why not lay your tank on it's side??

What I would like to have is an 11# tank.

I've also given some thought to installing a connection to my motorhome LP tank.

We use a Weber Q grill.

We use

The cubby-hole doors on our Newmar are soft aluminum, I think.
I do know that they dent. A full propane bottle on its side
could do alot of damage to the inside of the door, IF it
came adrift in there. Our barbeque is a Coleman Road Trip.

I solved the tank problem by connecting to the motor home tank. I got a 12' hose that connects to the tank and to the BBQ. Fortunately the gas tank is on the patio side. The 12' hose lets me get it away from the side of the coach, works wonderfully.

I do not let any item roll around in my basement compartments.

I think the hose is the best solution. We don't use much propane for the coach and propane is cheaper bulk loaded into the motorhome than buying in returnable 20# tanks.

Did you buy the hose extend-a-stay kit???

Marshall Brass makes many lp gas kits and it you just want to have a hose coming off the ACME tank you will want the Extend-A-Tee which comes with a 12' hose to match most portable gas grills. If you want to stay parkedd a long time like in winter wher you can add a DOT portable tank of gas and back feed the motorhome lp gas system, then you will want to get the Extend-A-Stay. If you want to do both then the Extend-A-Stay Plus will do the job. The Tee fitting will need to be installed ahead or in front of the lp regulator. Turn off the gas and remove the vittinginto the valve and install Tee. Reinstall the gas line into the back of the Tee and open valve, check for leaks and if none you are ready to give up carrying an extra lp bottle of gas around! Good luck and stay safe.

Thanks for psoting this. When I looked at these three products on the Camping World website they did not give enough information and I could not tell from the pictures what was what. I only want to supply a gas grill so don't need the more expensive kit.

I don't see a shut off valve with the Extend-A-Tee. Does the Extend-A-Tee include a shut off valve??

No it does not. You have a shut off on the motorhome tank and a shut off on whatever device you connect to the tee. The tee itself has no valves.

Built into the Tee is a valve that when the hose is disconnected the gas is sealed off. It also has a threaded cap that can (and I recommend using it when traveling especially) be screwed onto the port the hose connects to. Remember this connection point is high pressure and so I recommend you remove the hose when not using it, just to be on the safe side. The hose is rated for this application but I have found that over time the fitting will begin to leak and so to prolong the life I find it better to just disconnect when I don't need it.
