Folks I have a 2005 Four Winds 31P. It has one 12v house batt. We used it first couple weeks then it sat for 3 weeks with batt disconnect switch on "off". When I went to use the batt is was dead , went to batt heaven. Tried to charg it it wouldn't hold a charge. Bought new batt used once and it showed charged 12v on batt panel(panel has 12v-11v-10v) when I parked it, batt disconnect swith to "off". After first week it showed 12v then second week it showed 11v. I tried to charge batt from shore power, put batt switch to "on" that was last nite. Tonite it still shows 11v, I assumed it would have charged by now and showed 12v. It seems to me that the converter is not working and something is discharging the batt as it sits, even with batt disconnect switch in "off" position. Don't want to take to dealer for this and other warranty items due to plans through mid Oct. seeing how I know they will have it for a few weeks. I will put batt on batt tender in mean time. Thought maybe some one might have some insight/thoughts on something I may have missed. Thanks.......Bill

Bill, use a digitalvolt meter and check the battery voltage while unit is not plugged in and diconnect switch is off. Then plug into shore power and recheck the voltage at the battery. It should increase to about 13.3 - 13.8 volts. If not your charging section of converter is not putting out. To determine what might be draining your battery, turn diconnect switch to off. Check the lp leak detector is it still on? Check the ref., CO detector, and lights. They should not be working as long as you do not have it plugged into power and battery disconnect is off. The only thing that usually is bypassing the disconnect is the lp leak detector. To be certain that the disconnect is off you could install a manual knife or rotary switch that will deffinately turn every thing off.

From your post it would appear that your rig came without a manufacturer's guarantee. If I am wrong and you do, in fact, have a guarantee I suggest that you let the seller correct the problem - and in addition, repay you for the new battery.
I'm sorry if I seem harsh. It may be possible that you have more than one electrical problem and I think that you are premature in trying to fix it yourself. wish you only the best of luck...

Bill sometimes it pays to do some checking yourself. Your gnd's for battery an converter should be checked for looseness or dirty connections. You will have gnd's attached to your chassis frame directly or to a common gnd post attached to frame. The battery post for gnd or battery lead maybe loose. If you find a loose connection use a star washer to hold an prevent it from loosening up again. You will find many gnd's to frame Gen,converter, refer, transfer switch, lighting ckts, etc. etc. Dealers over look the simple things in life. "007"

RVWizard my meter batt is dead, go figure, I'll get another and check. I also checked the detectors and all are off when batt disc is off. rayw, I do have the warranty but I have a few other items and want all done at same time so I will take it in mid Oct, with bad batt, and have them take care of the otehr items also. 007 I did check the batt terms before and did find them lose but will do some more checking. Tonite I un hooked shore power, started generator to see if batt would charge at all, it did not. I then turend off the gen and started the motor(v-10) and after a few minbutes the batt panel showed 12v I have the batt on a batt tender tonite and will go from there. Thanks...Bill

If it charges from the vehicle (engine) charging system) but not the house converter/charger, I think you have isolated the problem to either the converter itself or a connection between converter and battery.

There may be a fuse or circuit breaker in the power control panel that has opened and prevents charging from the converter. Mine has one and it is well hidden - just a teenny button to push on the edge of the circuit board. Charging from the engine system goes through a different relay and has a separate breaker.
