Bob, you'll likely responses like mine who've used one or the other, but unlikely someone who 's used both (?). I got the Battery Minder for $40; it uses two wires and runs at 1 amp. The Tric-L-Start might be a little "smarter"; it has three wires, up to 5 amps, and perhaps some circuitry that mine doesn't have; it costs about $50.
My 2 cents: I'm not certain there's much difference between them actually....

I'm using the Trik-L-Start, easy installation and worth the price.

I run the BatteryMinder. They both charge but I like the Pulse Charge capability of the BatteryMinder that keeps them from sulphating.

Battery Minder Bob. It gets it's power from the 120 volt duplex hooked up the power grid.

I can't figure out where the Trik L Start gets it's power other than robbing power from one battery and transferring it to another. ??? So if you're not plugged into the power grid, you'll eventually have all your batteries dead. What am I missing?

The Battery Minder and the Trik-L-Start are two completely different methods of keeping batteries charged.

The Battery Minder is for keeping one set of batteries charged using 110v AC. The Battery Minder is a small amp battery charger with some circuitry built in that desulfates the batteries.

The Trik-L-Start is made to keep two separate sets of batteries charged WITHOUT 110v AC. The Trik-L-Starts routes the charge from either the chassis batteries or the coach batteries and sends part of that charge to the set of batteries that need charged. The source can be the alternator, aux generator, converter or invertor. No 110v AC is needed or required.

The Trik-L-Start is much better suited to the motorhome problem of starting batteries slowly discharging from phantom loads.

I've used BatteryMinder for the last two years. I put my RV away for the winter and conect the batteryMinder and forget it. You shoud use your battery disconnect and rmove shore power. Once a month I disconnect the batteryMinder and run the Generator of about one hour under load, Check water level and hook it back up. I have yet to add water to the batteries.
