Add a second strut to the other side.

There is identification written on the side of the gas strut which gives the length and the poundage of the gas strut.
I would replace both.

Ditto!
I took one to a local RV supply store, and the woman quickly ordered me two new ones, different brand, same specs.

Original pair of struts had one on right that had a lock, but notice that the locks seem to be scarce on those we have found for replacement...only Fleetwood offers one and it is the same weight rating (110 pounds) as ours that broke so that makes little sense for replacement. To those of you that had the problem, what weight rating did you use for the fix, what rating, and how long in the extension mode? Our current mattress is a short queen specially made for us and is very very firm and very very heavy. Perhaps we will have to replace it as we "saved" it from our previous class A, and can use a full length one in this unit except it needs to be a thickness that fits under the wardrobe on the other side when the slide is in...lots to consider here.
Thanks to all for your suggestions...haven't made a decision as to what to try yet, but appreciate your ideas. May be a while before we fix the problem as we are working on a few others that our "new-to-us" 2010 Bounder has "presented" us with...taking it one thing at a time! 40+ years as RV'ers on our 8th unit--some new, some used, and we have had more challenges with this one than any other...quite a learning experience demanding lots of patience! Any suggestions on this are very welcome!
