Before you call for roadside assistance.

Before you call for roadside assistance.

Due diligence will keep you out of trouble.
And there is a lot of trouble you can get into using roadside assistance, (RA).
Most of this info is from other threads but they are distributed all around the web and sometimes hard to find when you need them.
· If you need to be towed. You need to know what size of wheel lift, aka Stinger is needed to safely tow your RV. Talk to your mechanic and learn what you will require for a tow truck to safely tow your RV. Write that information down so you can instruct the RA person when you call for help. If you don’t tell them what you need and a “Too Small” tow truck shows up, what’s your plan then? That happened to me this summer and it was not a good thing.
· Flat tire. One guy called his RA and gave them permission to send out a replacement tire. The repairman found the tire was good. The leak was from the valve or wheel? He authorized it and had to buy the $600+ tire. It’s in his garage as a daily reminder to due diligence. Putting some air in the tire and finding the leak would have been a $600+ good idea.
· Cranking Battery. You must know what make, type and size of battery you will accept. Know what cranking amps your engine calls for. Remember, if you authorize them to bring you a battery, you will pay for it, right or wrong.

I'm not saying let's get rid of all the stupid people.
That would be an appalling and awful thing to say.
I'm just saying let's remove all the warning labels and let the problem work itself out.
