Best RV Financing Company?

Any thoughts on the best financing companies or sources to work these days? (Excellent credit, looking for low down, 75k-90k range)

My suggestions would be if you have a credit union you are a member of to get preapproved thru them first if you can. I suggest getting preapproved first even if it's a bank. This way you know what they really think you can afford and you would have the interest rate in front of you before going to a dealer. You should end up with a better interest rate if you 1-go thru a credit union and 2-get preapproved.

USAA

If you are former military, you can't beat USAA.

I initially went with USAA, mostly because of the convince of on line, and they are quick with an answer. I'm talking a few minutes after completing the application. Interest rate was 10.99, not great. A few months later, refinanced with Good Sam financing (Bank of the West) at 4.69 and happy with that for now. When I check with my local credit union, they also were up there at 10 - 11 percent interest.

USAA is great, but they no longer will finance full timers. If you're not fulltiming, I'd absolutely recommend them for quality and service, but watch the interest rate. They are not always the best anymore...competitive, but not always the top. If you are a full timer, there are only 2 or 3 companies out there now who will finance FT'ers. We went with Essex and their bank, Bank of the West and were very pleased with the people at Essex. 4.65% on $100K for 15 years...They run the financing like a mortgage (but its way easier) and you deal with one single person who knows the rules in your home state. The only draw back I have with BOTW is that they are not very updated for online viewing of RV loan accounts. You have to call if you want payment breakdowns, interest, principal etc...or to make additional principal payoffs. I think Allied is the other company that will finance true full timers (no S&B).

Thumb for Credit union.

I used Essex who placed me with US Bank in 2007, best interest available in 2007. Last year I used Essex who placed me with Bank of the West for a refinance to 4.5% Essex has not been fast, but we seem to get it done.

I was talking with a guy near my campsite last fall, he had a new motorhome we were admiring. He commented, "people how have to finance their RV shouldn't buy one". The DW gave me a look, but I kept my response to myself. I guess by his standard, I shouldn't own an RV. But I sure am glad I do! Some guys play golf, so,fish, some collect things, me I RV....

Good Luck....and remember, keep the bright side up, and the roller side down
