For my sanity, and my back.

The gas spring arms on the basement doors of my 2001 Brave were shot when I bought it. No big deal, I thought. After 1 year I can say I was wrong about that! I had had enough of holding those doors open with my back while getting something in or out of the basement, or even hooking up power and water/sewer, plus looking like an idiot.

Problem was, I had 24 of those puppies, and winnebagoparts.com thought $24 apiece was a fair price. Well, I was able to do a bit better than that. At rvddirect.com I got the exact same part for a little less than $9 each. Of course they charged a rediculous $18 for shipping, but they shipped them the day I ordered them and 1/3 the price was hard to beat.

Well worth it, every time that basement door flies open and stays open!

Had the same problem on my 02 Brave. On mine the chrome was rusting on the shaft right where it entered the piston. I ordered mine from http://spdhardware.com , they are OEM for Winnie. Found that they don't recommend the chrome ones anymore and have started making them with Nitride shafts that is suppost to be much more rust resistant. I have not had any start to show any rust yet. Don't remember the cost but was cheaper than Winnie. I couldn't find the correct lengths and pressures at CW.

Right - I tried CW, for some reason they didn't have the exact replacement size I needed. I found the exact replacement made by the same manufacturer that supplies them for winnebagoparts.com, and they are the new Nitrate style, hopefully they will last longer. I ordered them on a wednesday afternoon, and they arrived on the following Friday. Hard to imagine CW would be any quicker, in fact, I have yet to have them ship an order the same day I order it.
