Best way to secure a stepladder?
Brand new to this forum. Looking for suggestions on an easy and secure way to attach (with easy removal when needed) a portable stepladder to the roof access ladder on the rear of my Class A.

I connect my aluminum step ladder to my roof access ladder with 4 bungee cords. Seems to work well so far.
Best of luck and safe travels....

mine is a 6 foot fiberglass step ladder, it rides in the basement, bunged to the frame rails, my totes slid under it.
I placed it inside after i had to use it one day and it was completely covered in road grime, after that it was washed and put inside with the rear ladder extension

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!
I carry a 4' stepladder in one of our storage bays! Have fun and keep her between the ditches!
Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Do you have to carry it externally? Have you considered one of these? https://www.rvupgradestore.com/GPL-7...2AD26C341AA795
It folds down to about 4"x3" and I store it in my pass through bay inside a 5" plastic fence post. I can pull out and expand it in a minute or two.

I also have one of these and it is great. Very stable and easily stored, even in our Itasca gas coach.

I carry my M17 Werner ladder on the back of our coach using a hook/rack that hooks over one of the rungs. I then ratchet strap it so that it stays tight. Then I run a bicycle security cable through it to secure it. Have fun RVN

I have used one of these RV ladder bike racks which can also be used to carry a portable ladder.

I am a proponent of the "Little Giant" as it provides you with both an A-Frame ladder and extension ladder all in one.
Great quality and stability and it is easily stowable. I purchased the added step platform which provides sure footing when working above eye level when using the ladder in the A-Frame configuration.
If you are a Costco member...keep an eye on them when they go on sale. You'll save about 50 bucks.

I have one of these: https://www.harborfreight.com/17-ft-...der-63419.html
It's like the Little Giant. Built well, it can handle 300lbs. It's also very versatile as it makes into different ladders. It fits in my pass-through. I am going to rig up something so I can store it in the top of my pass-through. You can usually find a coupon for $110.
I like the foldable ladder too but wanted something that could reach all the way to the top at any point on the rig.

I don't like the way a ladder looks hanging off the back of the coach on the OEM ladder, so I bungee it to the ceiling of the through basement storage.

Before you bother, have you tried using it yet? Just saying at my age, weight, limberness, I found I would never even try (I did stand on, and repaired w/ new ladder nuts to replace the rusted out ones) the rear mounted ladder, but might allow the more responsible, agile, lightweight grandkids to.... but they would NOT need the stepladder. (ME?) I want an extension ladder that extends 30-36" above roof for a hand-hold while transferring too/ from roof.

I like the Werner 17 ft ladder or the harbor freight 17 ft or the little giant 17 ft and keep it in my passthrough
