Hi, What is a step up in quality from MCD shades?

I went to Classic Coach Works when I wanted to replace the day/night shades. They were at one time one of MCD's largest dealers. They switched to Auto Motion due to numerous issues and that's what I had installed and was very pleased with them.

Don't know just what you're looking for, but this past weekend at a local "Home Show", a Budget Blind dealer we talked to about a couple blinds for the house said he's in a motorhome about once a week. They have a lot of styles to choose from and I'm going to have him look at putting something in mine on the driver and passenger side windows that will come down to block the side sun while driving.

We' only had our rig 10 months and have had one MCD stip the gearbox. No noises, nothing, went down fine but wouldn't go back up. I checked and could hear and feel the motor running. No way to repair, just replace the whole motor/gearbox unit for $125.
AutoMotion claims to be the first on the market which may or may not mean anything.

I'd like to add my " disappointment " with the MCD quality. We have them in our 2 year old Newmar. The bathroom window shade - which is hardly ever raised and lowered, stopped retracting. Turns out the plastic axle / spring snapped in half. Spoke to MCD customer service - he identified the issue immediately which tells me it happens often. They charged me $ 32.00 + shipping for new spring assembly. When it arrived, it was different than broken unit. Called customer service again - oh yeah.....you need to cut off a portion of the plastic collar with your dremel tool !
I know stuff breaks.....just poor customer service to charge for defective parts !
Next MH will think twice about MCD products.

For those having problems with their MCD shades not rolling up, you might want to check out the link I posted a couple years ago and the temporary fix (if the spring is not broken). I ordered the replacement parts, but this "temporary" fix has held so far.

This might come in handy but when you call the company and they say no parts available and the only option is to buy a new shade with a 10% discount, that doesn't cut it..

BTW, my spring wasn't broken either

I agree... A 10% discount is nothing. I like the shades, but the insides of the mechanism are cheaply made.
