How much sewer contribution per person do you budget?

We're just beginning full timing with a combination of dry camping and with hook ups.

Gee, I never thought about budgeting "that". There are so many variables to consider. I just check the panel and start thinking about it when it shows my tank 2/3 full while parked. When traveling I like to drive with empty tanks so I dump before heading out. I have an ipad app that helps locate dumps, but there are also websites that list them.

Budget per person for the black water tank. Never really thought of it that way. If you go over budget on the black do you just stop eating and drinking? Sorry, just couldn't resist.

All kidding aside the wife and I boon-docked for 10 day's last summer and the black tank (45 gal) registered 1/2 full. Our gray water (45 gal) registered 3/4 full. Our 66 gal freshwater tank registered empty after 10 day's, After leaving our friends property we stopped at a local campground, dumped the tanks and filled up with fresh water.

If your tanks are comparable in capacity and you go into fresh water conservation mode you should be able to make it at least 10 day's. If your tanks are bigger then you should be able to go longer. The tank you will fill the fastest is your gray water.

It's a pretty good question actually and I too have never thought of it this way. We don't dry camp and our grey tank ALWAYS fills much faster than the black so that is our gating item.

In the summer, we spend a month in Minnesota at my FIL's place w/no sewer hook ups. Our 57 gallon black tank will require dumping after about two weeks but we make no attempt to minimize the amount of water we put in it... plus I like adding almost 1/4 tank of fresh water to the black tank after flushing it.

I am guessing someone that is good at spreadsheets could figure this out for you.

Average tird size + average urine discharge per day + amount of water to flush times amount of people divided by tank size would give you the number of days til tank is full. Maybe add 10 percent margin for error.

I guess it kinda depends on how big your tank is and how much you eat.

We budget 1 number 1 and one number 2 per person per day. Anything more than that we use the facilities where we are camped. Sometimes that presents a problem if the WallyMart isn't a 24 hour one.

Depends... On how bad a case of "Montezuma's Revenge" the person has.

Also on if they are diabetic (Means "Water flows easily in english, in short, urinates frequently) and a few other medical conditions, all of which add up to greater use.

Depends on if the DW is cooking or we go out to eat. (I'll be on the couch tonight).

The grey tank fills first and that's our dump factor. I wish I could pump some grey water into the black at times, but I don't plan to make new holes in the tanks for that.

The two of us add about 3 1/2 gallons per day to the black tank - total not each. We use a fair amount of water when we flush. We add water to the bowl, flush, add more water, brush and flush again.

One person up-thread said something which is highly important.

The standard sensor is nothing more than a nail or screw Real high tech there, If it's wet then the level must be at least that high right.. Wrong, if a moist "Slime" covers the sensor wall.

Thus the Sensors are accurate only on the 1st use, after that,,, They tend to read different than truth.
