Like Mel Stoplich I use Rid-X. I also add a couple of ounces of Dawn dishwashing concentrate. We never have odors from tanks and the Dawn keeps the tank sensors clean and functioning properly. When I first started doing this I cleaned tanks as good as I could then added the Rid-X and Dawn along with a couple gallons of water. As I drove the solution sloshed around cleaning the tanks. When I dumped that time, lots of things came out that I thought were already gone. It took doing this a couple of times to get the tanks in shape but have had no problems since.

Wow, So much good information on a dirty subject! We are parked for the summer with no sewer hook-up and we just started to get a smell, sometimes in our RV. Good tip about filling the toilet bowl up before flushing. Never even thought of that one. I just flushed water plus baking soda down so will see if that "settles" the smell. Thank you to everyone. I learnt something new today
