We have had our Sightseer since last October - it now has about 7,000 miles on it. We have enjoyed it a lot but now it will not start. The dash lights will not come on nor will the step work. We found a fuse that was burned out and replaced it - that fuse also burned out. We tried another one and it burned out. So we have a problem. The MH is in the garage and we are not able to take it in for repair. Any ideas?

Obviously you have a serious problem. Continued fuse replacement or other testing could cause worse damage. Like a fire, etc.

Have you contacted the manufacturer for warranty? They should provide a tow to a service facility. I've read similar posts on this site that the manufacturer did just that.

I'm sorry that I don't know more about your Sightseer but if you could post some information about your engine and chassis those of us with similar setups might be able to help you better.

I was able to obtain a wiring diagram for the chassis portion, including the engine, from our chassis maker. If you had a similar wiring diagram, you could probably identify the circuit for the failing fuse and that would tell you what components are being affected. Often, with that much information, several possible repair items can be identifed.

The fact that your steps don't work is puzzling. I wouldn't expect the steps to be on the same fuse as anything which controls the engine. If they are Kwikee steps, you might consider carefully going underneath and unplugging them and then replacing the fuse. Your ignition switch is the common point among your symptoms and you may have a problem there. I can see the back of my ignition switch from under the dash. If yours is similar, you might consider shining a flashlight on it to see if anything looks burned or loose.

Those are just a couple of thoughts I had based on the information that you provided.

We are contacting the dealer and going from there. The dealer is an authorized Winnebago repair facility. They have been very good in the past trying to solve all the problems. They were closed over the holiday weekend so tomorrow is our first chance to talk to them. This should be interesting. Thank you for your suggestions and support. A fuse will blow because something that it supplies is drawing an excessive amount of current. But what is this fuse for? What does it supply power to? It would seem to have to be something related to the operation of the dash lights. I can't see why the same fuse would supply both those lights and the step? In our motorhome, there are two different fuses that do supply the step, but the only connection that would ever have to the starting of the chassis engine is that it could run the battery down. Have you checked the battery with a meter to see what it is reading? Have you tried connecting the battery of a vehicle with the engine running, via jumper cables?
