On our 94 HR most of the rivets for the basement storage doors all broke had to get an " aircraft type hyd. riveter" only because the diameter of the oem rivets were 3/16"

and a hand held blind pop riveter did not go that big.

as to measure the length needed I too used an awl to stick in the hole and slide in keeping it as close to one side as possible untill I could not feel and contact measured what was stuck in and chose the rivet the oem rivet was hollow and 3/16 dia. I used 5/8 " long rivet alum hollow.

Got home yesterday, so today I went to Sears and bought a good quality handheld riveter, capable of doing 3/16" rivets and also stainless steel rivets. I drilled out the broken rivets (this was the most difficult task because they rotated with the drill bit), then installed the new rivets. Easy!

Thanks for everyone's advise. I love the IRV2 forums!
