I drove my 96 Southwind home in 32 degree weather from a race.I could not get warm with the dash heater or with the furnace on.The temp guage on the Ford dash was just about 1/2 way.I can not feel where the the heat comes out.
I get no drafts to speak of from the front. What if I put a cover over the grill? Will this help?

Sounds like your heater valve didn't open, which is a fairly common failing with those systems. It controls the flw of hot water from the radiator through the heater core. No hot water means no heat in the cabin. You could put in a manual valve (nuisance to change position but cheap) or replace the remote control valve you have (not cheap).

No need to have frozen either. You could have run the main furnace to keep you warm.

I had the main heater on .The cold came in as I drove, hence the idea of a front cover like the trucks in winter.

I suspect your heater valve is 'closed' off. You didn't say if you have a manual control (a slider knob/sw) on the heat/AC panel. I had an issue with this where it wouldn't move the valve because some "RV tech" had installed the cable improperly. I had to fix it so the cable wouldn't kink. I don't know what 'temp gauge on the Ford dash was just about 1/3 way' means?? If it is normal for your driving, then you have sufficient hot water from the engine system and just are not getting hot water through the heater core.JMHO Also do you have vac lines or electric to move the blend door plates.

cheers
