Brush or not on rubber roof

Different item I have read contradict each other. Some say don't use a brush when cleaning a rubber roof and others say brushes are ok. Am asking for advice from folk that have used them. Yes or no ! Thanks!

I always used a soft brush when I had a rubber roof. Use one on my fibreglass roof as well.

Same kind of mixture. I've had success without a brush, just spray, let it sit, rinse. May need a second shot on stubborn areas. Just be gentle and careful with a brush. Soft bristles. The main reason I don't use a brush is there is a small chance to crack some of the plastic covers/vents if you get too aggressive. Should not affect the rubber roof though.

I most always brush in the washroom, I keeps the toothpaste and hairbrush there, that said, I may try it on the rubber roof if the weather permits

Try a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser Mop with some dishwashing liquid. It has my 15yr. old roof looking great.

Depends on the brush.. I use a "Van Wash" brush (This is a long handle auto-wash brush) it is very soft and designed not to scratch the finish on your nice new Yuppie-mobile.

Now a Wire brush...Very bad idea (That is as far in the other direction as I can get) It all depends on the brush.. Softer the better.

Good Morning Folks,

When we had 5th wheels I always used a soft brush and used Thetfords roof cleaner. It got it white again then I put a layer of UV protection on it. Total cost was about $50 and it would last about 2yrs. Our current coach just needs brush/soap/water.

We had three 5ers before getting the MH, and all had rubber roofs. I washed them with a soft-bristle brush. I don't see how that could possibly harm anything! JMHO!

I don't know where you saw a 'no brushes' warning, but it's incorrect. Even Dicor's cleaning recommendations for their rubber roof product states a "medium bristle brush".

See https://dicorproducts.com/resources/guide/

When my RV wash brush is replaced, the old one becomes by roof brush. If the bristles will not harm gel-coat or clear-coat they sure won't harm EPDM or fiberglass roofs.
When we bought this MH the regular mixture of car-wash soap and a few oz bleach would not get the fiberglass clean, so I used DirtX HD cleaner( similar to SpicNSpan HD) and now it looks like a new roof.
