And that is the paradigm shift that small shops are facing. Many people, and I'm one of them, PREFER to research their purchases and make an informed decision rather than trust the advice of a stranger. More often than not, when I go to a retailer, I know more about the product I'm shopping than they do.

Camping World disappointment

It is a tension. I've bought many RV items online but enjoy the opportunity for a local store when I want to purchase and install the item today or the local price is reasonable. There is a CW near us that gets my business when I need such and sometimes just "because".

What I do avoid is Showroomimg: looking at an item in the store to see what it is like and then buying it online. That just seems unfair to the store. Perhaps for those that do, there should be an admission charge. . Some stores will price match on the spot against an online store. Fry's electronics is an example. Times are changing though with the web and especially Amazon Prime accounts. Our local Fry's was typically very busy, esp on the weekends. Not anymore. I will be sad to see it go. It's just a matter of time. Even with price matching, more are content to buy from an iPad and their easy chair.

Camping World's research indicates $189 was what they should have been charging, not $299. They are supposed to put through a credit for the difference. That is right in my comfort zone as far as brick & mortar vs. online and what you should expect to pay for a part that you need NOW.

No one should have to "jump through hoops" to get the most reasonable price from any company.
If you had paid Camping World the ridiculously high price without complaining, (as most people do), what are the chances that Camping World would be putting "through a credit for the difference"?
I can't see how/why you are comfortable with that!

Completely agree regarding show-rooming. Something morally bankrupt about the practice IMO.

Also agree we have to keep local businesses open. Without them there is no one to hire our children, pay taxes and provide service for us.

Unfortunately there is sometimes a very large price difference to consider.

When mine died I contacted several dealers about a new one.. Alas, I could not get a Dinosaur board,, Most dealers had the board but not the AC/Propane adapter I needed... So I got a new lower quality Atwood.

I think I paid like 120, this was last November, General RV, Brownstown, MI (Shops all over lower MI and one in FL)
