Camping World shipping

I ordered some valve stems from Camping World on Friday morn because we're going on a trip this weekend. This was the first time I ordered from them. I haven't received any shipping notifications yet so I got on Live Chat with them and my valve stems have just now been packed and they "may" ship today via UPS. I ordered on Friday, they just got packed!

In today's day and age of internet commerce that is some pretty SLLLLOOOOWWWW packing and shipping speed. Is that typical for Camping World?

Thats why I won't order via internet from CW. To slow. You can usually find just about anything you need from other RV sites and Amazon.com for the same or lower price and much faster, sometime free shipping from other vendors.

My thoughts anyway.

That's what I thought. This is the first and last time I order from them. I usually order from Amazon but Amazon was more expensive this time. The nearest CW is 3.5 hours from my house and the small local RV supply stores are too expensive! Oh well, next time I will plan better. Thanks for the feedback.

I quit buying from CW a couple years ago for just this reason. My experience with on line and even in store ordered stuff was pretty much the same. I remember thinking they were still doing business the way it was done twenty years ago. People like Amazon, and even PPL, seem to have inventory control and shipping systems that work much more efficiently.

What is PPL?

PPL = www.pplmotorhomes.com One of the many popular online RV parts vendors.

In reality, I don't think 2 or 3 days for shipping is an issue. We have gotten rather spoiled by some of the online vendors out there like Amazon. If you needed something PDQ and it doesn't cost much, I'd just go buy at a local shop. I would expect CW is pretty right now as the camping season is ramping up.

Amazon can be awful sometimes though. Had a super experience with RVdirect.com recently. If you truly do want something quickly, I would think about where you are ordering from before you place the order. We too have stopped buying things from CW unless it is a super deal and/or not readily available elsewhere. Their pricing, sales and shipping can be confusing. Seems like they have lost the way somewhere along the line. There are simply a lot of online vendors out there nowadays that you don't need to zero in on CW as the only place to buy from. Most of the time, we can buy the same item for much less elsewhere online than at CW so why would you buy there to start with anyway?

Returns with Amazon can be really bad. If they have packaged something poorly, you won't get much back after a return and you can't email or talk to anyone at Amazon. The smaller online vendors (compared to a CW or Amazon) really want your business and try harder to get it and you'll typically get better service. Sometimes I have to give my head a shake on their shipping methods....

Could go on (and on and on) but that's my $0.02 worth and will go now....

I typically do not shop brick and mortar stores for anything except perishable groceries, and, yes I guess I am spoiled. If expecting efficient service is spoiiled, then I am guilty.

Different strokes for different folks. I think anything more than next day shipping is inexcusable. If someone like Zappos can do next day delivery, there is no reason other vendors cannot do the same, IMO.

My experience has been just the opposite. One of the reasons I like Amazon is how well they have handled returns.

I have to agree with jzick on several points. I am an internet shopper, through and through and I expect prompt and speedy service, just like everyone else. I expect the package to arrive at my door step in the time frame advertised for my chosen shipping speed. At least Amazon has a disclaimer that says something like, "packing and preparation time will not affect delivery estimates". In other words, if it's promised in 7 days but takes 5 days to get out the door, it WILL arrive by the 7th day. The point is that they inform the consumer up front.

I buy a lot of stuff from Amazon, especially at Christmas time. I do all the shopping online and my wife gets odds and ends from local stores. Every once in a while I do price compare with Amazon and will buy from other merchants, but I've never had a merchant tell me that it "MAY" ship today!! How can they be unsure of when it will ship??? CW also said that it's 5-7 BUSINESS days. No where in the ordering procedure did they specify BUSINESS days. Isn't every day a business day nowadays? I know that shippers continue to move product on the weekends. They don't just shut off their trucks and land their planes on Sundays...

Just unhappy with their service and wanted to get other's opinions of ordering from CW via internet.

These days everybody wants something for nothing. Amazon has forced most internet stores to work on a "next to nothing" margin. I will NOT buy from Amazon, I don't care how cheap it is.

OK, FLAME ON!!

What do you mean "something for nothing"? I don't see how that philosophy applies here. I paid for the merchandise. I think their service could be better. What "something" am I asking for, but willing to pay "nothing"? I certainly shouldn't have to "pay" for shipping accuracy when I call to inquire about my order. That's part of customer service. Those merchants with poor customer service won't have have customer's for long.

I understand your gripes about Amazon but I'm curious if you shop at Walmart, Kmart, Target, Lowes, Home Depot, <insert big-box store name here>. What Amazon has done to the small internet retailer is what these companies have done to the neighborhood hardware stores and mom-and-pop shops across America. If you don't shop at any big-box stores or large internet retailers then where do you shop?

I think it was more about saying we will ship and leaving off the when we get it from "your manufactured country here".
I had an experience like that when I called an auto parts store as we sheered a bolt while driving off road. Yup we have them. Hop in taxi, arrive at store, well we do not have them in stock but we carry them. The conversation came to can I give you money and you band me the parts right after I give you the money? If not you do not have them.
I canceled a order from a home improvement business (not in store) when I called 7 days after ordering and after they called their supplier (their words) they said it should ship tomorrow. I canceled and went to the competition.

What happened to we can not get it for.......

If the price is close to online I will buy from the store.

As for Camping World, I do not believe they are alone in what they did. Thankfully I have not experienced it from them.

I ordered from Camping World two years ago, talked to them at the time, they'll ship, it never came. Never bought from them since. Far to many other companies out there I'd rather give my money to. Who really do want your business.

Since Amazon started charging sales tax, I find myself looking elsewhere to places that don't charge tax.

I Just ordered from Amazon yesterday. No sales tax. Did Amazon open a distribution point in TX? If they did then there will be tax
