Can't find water holding tank drain valve

heyyyyyyyy help where the heck is the drain valve for water holding tank in a 1986 Southwind and how do I isolated the city water from filling up the grey tank??

Can't help you on the drain valve location, but I remember them being pretty easy to find in nearly every case.

Regarding isolating the city water from the gray tank, by gray, do you mean fresh water tank? If so, there are check valves built into the water pump for that purpose. If you're leaking into/filling your water tank when hooked up to city water pressure, they're either shot, or have a piece of crud lodged under one of them.

Although I don't remember them coming this way from the factory, there's also a possibility somebody has installed a valve that allows the fresh water tank to be filled from the city water pressure.

Sounds like you're up for some time spent on your hands and knees getting to know your coach a little better? ;^)

Not sure if they are the same but my 97 has a drain valve in 2 locations, 1 is right at the city water supply, there is 2 valves there. 1 is the water tank drain and the other is hot water drain. Also there is a valve that will fill the water tank from city hookup. Also there is a drain valve under the bed for the fresh water tank. Hope this helps!

Our Southwind is an '89, and there is no drain on the fresh water tank- the drain is just downstream of the water pump in the fresh water bay (so the FW tank has to be *pumped* dry).

Your post needs some clarification.

There should be absolutely no way for the city water to fill the gray water waste tank- do you mean the city water connection fills the fresh water tank?

Do you have a gravity water fill location as well as a city water connection?
If yes- then the fresh water tank is backfilling through the pump, and your pump needs replacing.
If no, then the valve which switches from city water to tank fill is either in the wrong position or is broken- replace valve in that case.

If you actually mean how do you drain the gray water waste tank, then you should see 2 big knife valves in the sewer bay- one opens the black tank, the other opens the gray tank. The black tank has a big 4" pipe coming from it; the gray has a smaller 1 1/2" pipe.

only way i can fill up fresh tank is from outside on drivers side in back no hose hook up hook up for city water is on pass side middle with hose hook up, when hooked up water works but also fills grey not black or fresh water ive read that there a valve somewhere to be able to fill grey to flushing purposises

i do have 2 valves on back of hot water tank they bypass for hot water tank??? the bwds are screwed down in back nothing under neath to see at all the water pump seems to to in bathroom area somewhere not visible under or inside at all ive looked for hours gonna take it to a dealer and have them find it lol arrrgh
