We were thinking of changing out our captain chairs. Here is my question. Is there a place where one can try the chairs out before purchasing? I've seen places on the web to purchase, but we don't want to have more of the same uncomfortable chairs. We live in the Southwest, so any suggestions in this part of the country would be appreciated.

There is a Flexsteel dealer in Yuma AZ and one - Brad and Hall - in Elkhart ID.
Many RV shows like the one at the end of the month in Quartzsite AZ have people showing sample units .

NMBeemercouple,

Check out this vendor,

RV Furniture Seats,Custom Motorhome Leather Seat,Captains Chairs

They are located near Long Beach, CA just South of LA. They don't have a store front, but are the actually factory making the chairs and after talking with the owner, I was able to go there and try some chairs before making a decision. I was looking at their recliners but the link is for their captain's chairs.

Good luck!

Dr4Film ----- Richard.

We regret that we dealt with Discount RV this summer. They did not live up to their delivery promises. We spent hours on the phone trying to get them to live up to their promises when they took our order. When we threatened to reverse our payment and cancel the order, we finally got our seats, but not delivered as promised.

Their product is made of good materials, and I find the drivers captain chair comfortable even after a long day drive.

They advertise that their chairs use standard mounting, and no drilling is necessary! Lies. We spent considerable effort making brackets to install these chairs into our Monaco Dynasty to replace our original Villa seats with standard mounting.

The captain chair with the footrest: they don't tell you that the seat is almost two feet deep!!

The captain chair with footrest, heat, vibrator, 6 way automatic positioning, they don't tell you that they'll just bundle the wires up inside the chair, and let you try and figure it all out!

The sofa with drawer. They did not assemble our correctly, and the seat will jamb down in front of the drawer so that the drawer cannot be opened. We are going to fix this ourselves, by taking the sofa apart, and putting it back together correctly. The furniture seems to be built using good materials, but the assembly work is lousy.

Considering this company's attitude toward supply, shipping, quality, advertising, etc, etc, etc, and our very personal experience, I cannot under any circumstances ever recommend these people. Not even to my worst enemy.

I wish I had spent more money and dealt with Villa, or Flexsteel, etc.

No, haven't purchased as yet but wanted to try before purchase. Based on a recent post, now I am going to be cautious, although a free-standing recliner will not have the problems that other chairs may have had. I could see that the quality of their materials was very good and they were assembling everything right there on the factory floor. I would guess that the difference between a $300 chair and a $600 one is the material and stitching pattern.

Good luck!

Our seats measured out as they were advertised. And my seats were ready as they said they were. Workmanship is good. We have only had a positive experience with the company.
