Have an Omega slide topper awning with Alumaguard cover fastened to the coach. The alumaguard sections closest to the fabric have started sliding toward the end of the roller tube when closing the slide. Its slide far enough to get between the antibillow ratchet and pawl so the alumaguard catches on the pawl when moving out the slide - which if I don't catch it one time its going to to do some damage.

Banged the pieces back toward the front so they align but they continue to slip.

Thoughts on causes and cures? I've thought maybe the slide has gotten out of alignment and so the roller tube is no longer parallel to the side of the coach????? Looks ok when completely closed and completely open but maybe during motion its off?

Sounds like you may have lost one or more set screws that holds the position of the alumiguard sections or the crimp needs to be tightened on the fabric; whichever is pertinent.

Thanks, think it may be the screws, at least there were some missing / extended. We'll see what happens when the slide gets put in and out next time we move.....Greg

Some awnings require that the pull strap be centered when the awing is retracted or the awning will pull one way or the other.

I used a marker to indicate the center of the tube so I know where to put the strap when I put the awning up.

I'm having the same problem with an Carefree SOK II. I think if I can get the fabric centered on the tube and all the aluminum lined up at the top, it will stay in position, but right now the fabric has slipped a bit in the aluminum and that seems to make it wind cock-eyed. After a few in/out cycles, the metal moves enough to interfere with the roll-up. I'm still playing with it, but think I am going to have to remove the topper altogether, get everything aligned right, and then re-install.
