I have one of the older Carefree manual awnings and was considering getting the Eclipse arms retrofited to make it an electric one. Has anyone on the board done this? I'd like to keep my fabric and roll tube and just have the arms installed.

Darryl, you can have this done, however it will cost more that a new complete awning due to the labor involved to prep the retrofit. Why don't you put on a new awning and keep the old for parts if you ever need them?

We did ours two years ago. About $1600.00 It looks really nice. You can't see the old holes. Also no more awning fights about wind and should it come in or stay out.

Thanks for all replies. I guess I need to see what a new one would cost vs replacing just the arms. One of my big concerns is finding a compentent shop around here. For a town the size of Atlanta, RV'ing is about half as popular as it should be. I called 2 places today that have decent reputations. Neither had ever done this job before.
