cargo struts
We need to replace the struts on the cargo bays of our 2002 40' Alpine Coach. I am having a difficult time locating a supplier, any help would be welcome.

Most RV parts stores carry them. Places like Camping World in your are should be able to match your current struts.

If you're talking about gas springs, any auto parts store will have a good selection. Probably cheaper at an auto parts place than in an RV store. Lots of places on the net too. If you can get the numbers from old ones, search google for those numbers.

Here's a link that should give you some info.

Measure your springs when they are extended then shop for the same length. The next thing you need to know is what they are rated to support.
The thing that throws everyone off, including me, is the nomenclature,
"Gas Springs". If you search that you will turn up a lot. If you are good on e-bay, that is where I bought mine, so you might check there.

Our Pepboys (Automotive store) has a large selection of lengths, end fittings and strengths (weight). However, you need to have a make/model for them to cross-reference as those in the display rack do not list this info on the packaging.

Your original struts were manufactured by SPD, Inc. (Service Plus Distribtors) at SPD » GSNI Black Nitride Shaft Gas Spring » Gas Springs and Dampers
I replaced my struts last year, and went with original equipment. Probably could have spent alot of time and found some local or less expensive, but I liked the product and the telephone service I received.
Look on your strut for the part number. All (excluding the doors under the room slides) take an old number SPD-GS-6711. That was a number made for WRV, but they can provide you an updated model/product. My motorhome and invoices/records are in another state right now so I can't be more specific with new numbers such as for the shorter struts. Give them a call and they can take care of you.

I just bought a couple from Future Sales RV and was happy with the pricing, shipping cost & time, and the product. Not sure how they compare with the other places that people have already posted, but can't hurt to check out another one, right? LOL!
