My carpet (beige/brown) is matted down after 3+ years. Aside from replacing the carpet or the MH, is there some way to "refresh" or fluff up the carpet loops? I vacuum & shampoo pretty regularly. I know I can get a carpet rake, but am concerned that the loops might tear out or fray. Suggestions most welcomed.

A good steam cleaner, even the home kind, has more suction than a standard vacuum. It just might bring back some of the newness. Hopefully others will have some even more positive answers for you.

I don't think your carpet has any loops. Isn't it a cut pile rather than a loop pile or Berber weave? Cut pile shouldn't pull out when raked.

We find that a heavy duty carpet shampoo machine (the kind you rent at a local store) does a good job of both cleaning and bringing the pile back up, at least for awhile.

Gary: Good point. It's not Berber, but probably cut pile. Standard Winnie carpet for an Adventurer. Guess I'll try a rake.

I have a descent cleaner (Bissel PowerSteamer) that does pretty well. Just trying to get rid of that matted look.
